Born in Albany, NY in 1947, I graduated from Colonie Central High School in '65, and the University of Buffalo in '69. I worked for a short period of time as a physical therapist in Rochester, NY before being drafted. I chose the Air Force over the Army, eventually became a pilot, and retired after 34 years of service and 7,000 hours of flying.
Like many of you, I joined Facebook years ago to stay in touch with family and friends, but over the years, the tech giant has become far too political. Recently, when it began censoring speech it deemed inappropriate, I knew that it was time to leave that world. After all, I spent 3 decades of my life trying to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States which gives everyone the right to say whatever is on his or her mind.. The tricky thing about freedom of speech is protecting that right for everyone, even those you disagree with. That's what differentiates us from autocratic societies...that's the genius of the founding fathers and our Bill of Rights.
Some of you may have looked at the picture on the Home Page and wondered what it was...well, it is part of the first paragraph of a book that I wrote entitled, Suz, which was published and released on October 30, 2020. I'll talk more about the book as time goes on and give you further insights into my coming-of-age story with my childhood friend, Susan Frey.
Thank you for checking out my blog, and I hope that you'll come back often to see what's on my mind. I promise to do my best to pique your interest.
